What is new
This version 3.01 has three substantial pieces of news. First of all,
now it is possible to delete a callsign completely from the database.
Secondly, there is a new possibility to make an update of database.
And in the good end this online help was added.
Installation
Copy the following files into a beforehand created folder (e.g. c:\callbook) :
callbook.exe
callbook.dbx
i_view32.exe
and the help-files
callbk.htm
callbk_e.htm
callbk_r.htm
Later you can also copy the update-file callbook.upd and the pictures
of the radioamateurs into this work-folder.
In order to start the Callbook more simply, you should create a link either
on the Desktop, or in the start menu.
1. On the Desktop:
For this case press the right mouse button and create a New - Link.
Please give the full name of program with path e.g. c:\callbook\callbook.exe
and click OK. Input a name of the link, e.g. Callbook and
click on finishing.
2. In the start menu:
For this case go on the symbol Start and press the right mouse button.
Open the start menu and doubleclick the symbol programs. Now
you must create a File-new-link and input the full name of program
with path e.g. c:\callbook\callbook.exe. Input a name of the link,
e.g. Callbook and click on finishing.
Now the program can simply be started by these links.
Look for callsign
1. In the search-window:
If you input any callsign into the field look for callsign and click
the button Search, the entry for this callsign will be displayed. If this
callsign is not be founded in your datebase, you will get an error mesage.
2. Select in the list:
All entered callsigns with names are listed in the alphabetical sequence
in the lower window. If you select a callsign from the list, the complete
entry will be displayed.
Regard pictures
Since the version 2.1 it is possible to regard pictures. For this case
you must copy the pictures into the work-folder. All usual picture-formats
are supported, but the name of this files must correspond to the callsign,
e.g. dj8km.jpg or dl8fcu.gif etc. If any entry is displayed,
the program searches automatically the work-folder for pictures. If a
picture is found, a button Picture will appear. If you click on this button,
the picture will be displayed in a new window.
Note! This option does not work under Windows 3.1
Add a new callsign to list
For adding a new callsign into the database, or modification of any existing
entry, you must click the button add to list. A new window will open,
and you can make your individual entries or modify the old entries. By clicking
the button OK, the entries will be transferred to the database.
By clicking the button Cancel, no modifications will be made.
Attention please! It is not allowed to use tabs or space-characters in the
field CALL !
Delete callsigns
By wishes of several OM,s the function delete was introduced in the
program since version 3.01. If you want to delete completely the displayed
callsign from the database, you can make that from the
menu line. You must click in the menu line database-delete. If you
answer on the question "entry.... really delete?" by OK,
the entry will be deleted from the database.
Update of database
Many OM,s who use the Callbook, makes their own entries into the database.
Before version 3.01 the file callbook.dbx was overwrote with the new file
in the update-process, and the personal entries were not available any more.
Since version 3.01 there is a new possibility to update the database.
On the HTML page www.dj8km.de
(in Callbook), a file callbook.upd is offered for download. After this file is
copied into the work-folder, you can execute an update from the menu line.
You must click database-update in the menu line. The database will be
brought on the new status, without overwritting the own entries.
